You know its summer time when....

...a Junebug flies in to your mouth!!!

Yeah that make 5 bugs that have flown in to my mouth...don't ask.

Phyllophaga is a very large genus (more than 260 species) of New World scarab beetles in the subfamily Melolonthinae. Common names for this genus and many other related genera in the subfamily Melolonthinae are May beetles, June bugs, and June beetles. They are medium to large in size (8-25 mm) and are blackish or reddish-brown in colour, without prominent markings, and often rather hairy ventrally. These beetles are nocturnal, coming to lights in great numbers. The adults are chafers, feeding on foliage of trees and shrubs. They may cause significant damage when emerging in large numbers. The larvae (called white grubs) feed on the roots of grasses and other plants. The insects pupate underground in the fall and emerge as adults the following spring. To test for the presence of these beetles, one can drench an area of lawn with water and the larvae will emerge at the surface.

Flies in the family Pyrgotidae are endoparasitoids of these and related beetles; the females pursue the beetles in flight, laying an egg on the beetle's back under the elytra where the beetle cannot reach it. The egg hatches and the fly larva enters the body cavity of the beetle, feeding and eventually killing the host before pupating. Wasps in numerous families are parasitoids of Phyllophaga grubs, including Pelecinidae, Scoliidae, and Tiphiidae.

The generic name is derived from the Greek words phyllon (φυλλον), which means "leaf", and phagos (φαγος), which means "eater", with a feminine ending.

Bumed...for a while

I was born with a defected pancreas, so I'm back on insulin for a while, just till it decides to start doing its job again. Super strict diet.

But I'm on the pen, which it way better than syringes. Needles on syringes are longer and penetrate deeper and hurt more. Needles on the pen are short, and I don't feel anything when I inject myself. Plus I have to prep the syringe, get the 2 viles of 2 different insulins add and subtract the cc amounts and store them in in the fridge. The pen, you just turn the knob to the amount of cc's I need and then inject myself. No storage needed and its travel friendly.

Getting it together

So my boss has been reading this book about time management. She let me read it for about a day, I skimmed through it. And it look good, so good that I bought it on half.com. I just couldn't wait till she was done.

After I get done reading that book, then I'm gonna read her second book,

Rain Clouds on the Horizon

So, I got the job at Jackson Middle School. 7am - 4pm. I thought, well I'll just have to take night classes. I went to search the class schedule at UHD's site. Shit. All my major classes start in the afternoon. And theres only one of each, not like other classes wheres there 19 Intro to whatever. What am I gonna do. I didn't sleep well all weekend. I was pretty bummed out. My family was all excited and all, especially my mom. Now I have to tell them I can't take it.

When to church on Sunday morning to ask God or Jesus...one of them had to be there, its church. Anyways I asked for a sign on what to do.

Today at lunch my boss from my last job called me, he wanted to know if I was coming back next year. I told him whats going on, and that I'm am leaning on more of a yes to C.S. I really liked working with the people there, but I know this year these cool people won't be back, and I definitely get stuck with the freaks. I would like to join again, under one condition, it can't be back at Paul Revere. The reason...its too damn far!!! Thats the only reason.

But if I do go back I'll be making $13.50, a dollar more. Plus and extra day cause now all campuses will have program on Fridays.

I donno, I saw a posting in the Admission's department here at school.

We'll see.

Class for now.

New Horizon

During my 2 hour class of defining what is "Just", I was looking for a job on the net. I was on HoustonISD.org and I found a few. One was a middle school 5 minutes away. I applied for it, and 5 minutes I got a voice mail from the principal of Jackson Middle School. She wants me to come in at 1 and talk to me. I am both excited and fraught. You see Jackson MS wasn't always the best MS. When I was in middle school...I went to a different one, Jackson was one of the worse MS at that time. You had students who should of been in 10th grade at that school, fights major fights with knifes, and drive-bys. I know it has changed, cause the hood was a scary place when I was a child. It has now gotten better...thanks to the gays. If there is ever one good thing about the gays, it's their willingness to preserve objects...like an historic neighborhood in Houston...Eastwood.

Well we'll see what happens...man I gotta update my resume and get my clothes ready!!!

Summer so far

Quite. Really nothing, no Greece trip like last summer, or Vegas. I just realized that having no job sucks. It sucks big salty balls. I thought I would have time to do things, but it's too much time. When I was working I'd wake up at 7:30 am ready for school for 6 hours 4 hours working , home by 8, dinner, school readings and then sleep by 11pm.

Now its like wake up at 9am, read todays school readings. Leave the house by 11, get to school for class from 12:30-2. Surf the net in Niki's office. Wait for Kara my walking buddy at 4 and home by 4:15. From 5pm till 1am I have nothing to do! And It's killing me!!!

I tired the TV thing but I just don't like it one bit. If I read the readings for next class then I won't have anything to do to all day next day.

Any one got any hints.

Things I have to keep telling myself...again

Your puns are ALWAYS funny.

Life is not as bad as you think it is. So knock it off. You have great friends. A great family. And would only do one thing differently in life. That's pretty damn good.

100 thing that I've learned about photography

Since I found photography two and a half years ago I have learned different things which I would like to share with you today. These lessons have made me richer and I hope that you will find them refreshing and inspiring on your journey with the camera, too.

1. Never do photography to become a rock-star.
2. Enjoy what you are shooting.
3. Prepare well for your shooting, realizing that your battery isn’t charge when you’re setting up for that sunrise shoot is too late!
4. Always take one warm garment more than you actually need with you
5. Pay attention to your thoughts and emotions while you are shooting
6. Set goals you can achieve
7. Write tips about photography, because writing is also learning
8. Never go shooting without a tripod
9. Be pleased with the little prosperities
10. Build relationships with potential photo buddies
11. Watch the place you want to shoot first with your heart then with the camera
12. Always stay calm
13. Know that you tend to overestimate yourself
14. Perspective is the killer
15. Dedicate yourself to photography, but never browbeat yourself too much
16. Take part in a photography community
Treeklein17. Keep your camera clean
18. Never compare yourself to others in a better or worse context
19. Find your own style of photography
20. Try to compose more and to hit the shutter less

40. You can’t take photographs of everything
41. Break the rules of photography knowingly, but not your camera ;)
42. Pay attention to the different way that light falls on different parts of your scene
43. The eye moves to the point of contrast
44. Clouds increase the atmosphere of a landscape
45. Start a photoblog
46. Accept praise and say “thank you”
47. ‘Nice Shot’ is not a very useful comment to write
48. ‘Amazing!’ isn’t useful either. Try to describe specifically what you like or don’t like about an image.
49. You are not your camera
50. Ask a question at the end of your comment on a photo to get a ping-pong conversation with the photographer

97. A better camera doesn’t guarantee better images.
98. Always have printing in mind when you postprocess your images.
99. Photography is fair : You gain publicity with the quality of your images. Unless the images are stolen, there is no way of cheating yourself higher.

Do you have learned something that I didn’t mention ? I would be glad if you let me know it as a comment, so I can learn from you !
